Jackrabbit Quick

(Hayesville NC)
It was a quick trip across Georgia, stopping for one night at Lake Sinclair CG in the Ocoee National Forest. The next day found me at Jackrabbit CG, another NFS camp on Chatuge Lake just a short ways into the mountains of southwest North Carolina.

It was the long Independence Day holiday, and all sites were reserved for the duration. However, I found one site that was taken beginning on Friday; which gave me a spot for at least three days. The weather forecast was for several days of rain, so I hoped that some would not show up for the long wet weekend. And I was right, as I was able to stay put for another day. It was a pleasant respite with temps of 73* days and 60* nights.

A stop in Murphy NC to resupply the pantry and take on propane was needed. While there, I drove up the mountain a few miles to check out another NFS campground nearby as a possible Sunday camp. My artist friend nearby invited me to stay on their property for Saturday night. So, I headed that way in the early evening.
