Grand Tetón

(Moose WY)
It had been 20 years since I was last at Grand Tetón National Park. Things have changed; but, the scenery was still as beautiful as I remembered. An RVing friend, who has spent a lot of time there, took me to see some wonderful things.

Flowers, mountains

Grand Tetón National Park

We went on a hike around Jenny Lake which provided some exercise and nature at its finest. Part way in, we rested and ate a light lunch on some boulders under towering pines. It was relaxing with the lake before us and the mountains behind.

Once on the far side, we hiked up to see Hidden Falls. The extra mile was rewarded with a 100ft tall tumbling waterfall. My guess is that it didn’t stay hidden for long. What a beauty!

Going back down, we passed the trail to Inspiration Point which was closed for repairs. It was just as well as I doubt making the steep ascent would have been kind to my legs.

Cascade, rocks

Cascade Creek

Lake, hill, mountain

Grand Tetón from on Jenny Lake

Crossing over raging Cascade Creek he noted how many hikers had fallen to their demise by getting too close to the edge. We ended at a boat dock where we took a ferry back to the other side of the lake providing us with great views of the mountains from on the lake.

Pond, reeds, grass

Beaver hut & pond

Bison, field

Bison

My photographer friend took me to see beaver, moose, and bison. The first two were a miss, and the bison herd was found. Actually there was a moose; but, it was so disguised by the bushes that it couldn’t be seen well in the photo.

Lake, flowers, mountains

Wildflowers at Jackson Lake

Barn, field, mountains

Mormon Barn & Grand Tetóns

Along the way to Mormon Row, the famous scene of a barn below the Grand Tetóns presented itself for my lens. After several days of an enjoyable visit and tour, I returned to Jackson to get propane and gas for the long drive ahead.

Lake, trees, mountains

Lower Slide Lake at Camp

While sitting out at my campsite, two different days, a deer walked past me within five feet. It stopped, looked at me, and then slowly moved on. The campground was by Lower Slide Lake, on the Gros Ventre River, and below some cliffs. It was a great visit!
