Grayton Beach

(Grayton Beach FL)
Leaving to head back west earlier than originally planned, I drove US-98 skirting the coast through the Florida panhandle. Daylight was waning, so I stopped to camp for the night at Grayton Beach State Park.

The park was next to the Gulf of Mexico, with a short distance to the beach. I drove over there on my way out in the morning. It was rather windy, and clouds were moving in promising rain.

Driftwood on Beach

I walked around for awhile taking photographs. The waves rolling onto the beach, sea oats waving in the breeze, driftwood in the sand, and gnarly trees all provided character to the idealic seaside scene.

The beach was a fitting memory of my short stay in the Sunshine State. I probably should have spent more time there, but I was eager to get on the road westward.
