Guadalupe Ridge

(nr Queen NM)
I stopped at the Queen Café for lunch and had some tacos. There was a rack of amazing looking pie. I couldn’t resist and had the largest slice of cherry pie ever. Surprised to find the eatery, and homes about 45 miles southwest of Carlsbad up in the Guadalupe Mountains.

About three miles past the town, a turn off the pavement onto a gravel road went out onto what is simply called The Rim. Guadalupe Ridge Road was a wide good gravel road that went for about 12 miles and dead ended at the Texas border.

Several vista pullouts provided expansive views of the El Paso Gap below and the Brokeoff Mountains to the west. A sign said you could see the Sacramento Mountains far to the northwest. Not surprised, as it appeared the drop off the ridge was a good thousand feet or more.

Along the road were several places to boondock. I chose a camp near the end and among the pinyon pines at 7,225ft. A cool place to relax after a day of exploring.

Glad you told me about it. It’s kind of way out there. But, full of possibilities.

It is one of my favorite places. Glad you had a beautiful day for your visit. Yes, the Queen Café is a real treat and the new owners have really improved the place. Their RV spots are also improved. Great photos!
