Zuni Festival

(Zuni NM)
The Zuni Pueblo was having a street festival with the usual activities like carnival rides, venders offering food, clothing, arts & crafts, a mini pow-wow, and native dancers. Various tribes from the area participated.

As you can tell by the photos, my main interest were the dancers. Each dance group had a name, and I’m sure represented a particular tribe. However, I have no idea what they were. All had their own style, although likely they were performing traditional dances.

I walked around to see the arts and crafts, and got myself a burrito made by a Zia woman. It was pretty tasty. For some reason, I wasn’t much interested in the other activities.

Plans were to boondock somewhere in the forest. But, it began to rain so I thought it best not to be on those clay roads. Instead, I went to one of my favorite camps at Bluewater Lake State Park. It had a nice view of the lake, and the wild horses.

Thanks for the photos of the festival. I am a bit envious of you being able to go to those higher altitudes comfortably.

I am indeed fortunate that I can go to pretty much any elevation. Take care.
