Tucker Ponds

(nr South Fork CO)
Tucker Ponds was a spot for fishermen; at least they were there every day. Whether they caught anything, I don’t know. The campground was a small loop, with only two spaces where I could get level.

Fortunately for me, the only other one there was the camp host. Well, a couple more came during the time I was camped. So, it was a quiet place. Oh, and a few deer wandered in and out too.

Of interest was a French lady that was hiking the Continental Divide trail using mules to carry her gear. She was allowed to camp by the ponds for free, although others could not.

At 9,685ft the campground had pleasant temperatures during the latter part of July. Although, it rained several days while I was there it was an OK spot. The four mile drive on gravel passed several boondock camps that were occupied.

I would have to put the brush down for a try with a fly rod for a bit. Looks beautiful.

If I was any good at catching fish, it would be worth a try.
