Coyote Creek

(Guadalupita NM)
Coyote Creek runs down the eastern slope of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and through Guadalupita Canyon, and I believe empties into the Mora River. On its way, a state park by the same name, takes advantage.

It flows along side of NM-434, with a few rock cliffs and some cascades that happen in the springtime. On this trip there was road construction blocking any pullout opportunities. So, those shots are from a prior visit.

Within the park, the creek is smaller and with a different vibe. There were wider portions, some rippling water, reeds and wildflowers along its banks. A few fishermen were trying their luck; but, I heard they had not stocked the creek with new fish for a good while.

My stay at the park included pleasant temperatures, and a short hike into the surrounding hills. I enjoyed the few days while there.

I love your pictures. They make me feel like I’m next to the creek.
