Sea of Cortez

(Topolobampo MX)
This seaside village is located on a bay off the Sea of Cortez, also known as the Gulf of California. The sea is an inlet from the Pacific Ocean that separates the mainland from the peninsula of Baja California; and Topolobampo is near to where the ocean and inlet meet.

Sea of Cortez – Malecón

We started by visiting the malecón, or promenade along the waterfront. Fishing and tour boats were plentiful, with a view of the bay and islands; plus, the village on a hill made for a pretty sight.

Later, we went to Playa Maviri where we had a seafood lunch on the beach under palapas. We were serenaded by a conjunto as we looked out onto the Sea of Cortez. Then walked down the sandy beach for a ways.

It was a short visit, but very pleasant. And, I got to see el Mar de Cortés on my birthday.

Well, it’s not hard to get there. Perhaps Myrtle Beach will suffice. 😏

In the interest of cultural accuracy, that is a conjunto, not mariachi group 😁

Thanks for the correction. I’m afraid it was a reflection of my limited Spanish. 😉 The post has been changed to reflect your comment.
