Dinosaurs

(Jensen UT)
My trip through Utah included a visit to Dinosaur National Monument. I dry camped in their campground next to the Green River, and spent the next day looking at the bones.

The portion of the quarry exposed in the museum took 32 years of excavation to reach its current state. To me, it looked like a graveyard of bones; everything being all jumbled together.

There were displays explaining it all. But, I was more interested in how thinks looked, than in the science. The staff were very helpful in answering questions.

The landscape had a few interesting formations. There were a couple of trails into the surrounding hills. And, there were sections of the park, further up the mountains, that I didn’t explore.

(Vernal UT)
The Utah Field House of Natural History in Vernal had an outside garden with models of how they think various dinosaurs appeared. I understood how they got the skeletal parts; but, the final details of the outer appearance puzzled me.

A portion of the monument extends into Colorado, and the wild Yampa River area sounded interesting. It was a nice follow-up to my previous visit at Fossil Butte.
