Geronimo Springs Museum

(Truth or Consequences NM)
Another small town museum with lots of interesting stuff was found at the Geronimo Springs Museum. Several rooms with displays on different themes represented settlers, cowboys, ranchers, and natives well. There was so much, I may have missed some things.

Of course, the famous Apache leader Geronimo had a room devoted to his life with photos, artifacts, and a wax figure of the warrior. A nice collection of native pottery and artifacts representing Mimbres, Tularosa, Hohokam, and Alma styles was in another room.

The Heritage Room held paintings, saddles, and items detailing the history of the region. And, of course there was a Ralph Edwards Room about the personality that helped change the town’s name from Hot Springs to Truth or Consequences.

There was also a room describing the geology of the area with rocks and fossils. Outside was a miner’s cabin with an outhouse, a windmill with ranch tools and equipment, and a fountain where you could occasionally soak your feet in the warm mineral water.
