Dry Falls

(Highlands NC)
A short way up river from the campground was Dry Falls. I went early in the morning, because a prior attempt in the afternoon found the parking lot packed. Early was a good choice, as no one was there yet, and  the light was better for photos too.

Dry Falls

Contrary to the name, the falls was anything but dry. Several streams fell over a ledge and down onto  a rocky formation below. A series of steps went from the parking area down along the river with a couple of viewing spots along the way.

The walkway continued and went behind the falling waters and beyond for a short distance. Some of the surrounding trees were beginning to change to fall colors, which made for a beautiful scene.

Also, another short hop on the road got me to Bridal Veil Falls. It was right next to the road, with a very small area to pull off. Not a lot of water coming down; but perhaps, that was the reason for the veil monicker.

You’ve captured the falls very well, and I especially like the first photo. They are all beautiful though.
