Animas River Park

(Farmington NM)
Along both sides of the Animas River were trails extending for 8 miles connecting several parks. Hiking or bicycling was allowed on a smooth shaded path, with great views of the river and surrounding woodlands. A few bridges crossed over the river creating a loop route.

Benches and rest areas were provided, as well as view point stops. One was near some small rapids, and another was a display honoring veterans. Another was a play area for children, which I didn’t visit.

Near the parking area were picnic tables, a nature center, and a small orchard. Some farm equipment was on display, and a family of prairie dogs populated a field. There were also a few side trails that went off into the woods; but, I didn’t venture..

I road my fat e-bike for about half the distance, and on both sides of the river. It was a very pretty and relaxing riverside park.
