Hickman Bridge Trail

(nr Torrey UT)
The Hickman Bridge trail was part of Capitol Reef National Park; but, the trailhead was two miles east of the entrance along UT-24. The parking lot was full; so, I parked beside the highway.

The trail gained some elevation, but it was a gradual incline. Switchbacks made it easy. Tall cliffs, a miniature natural bridge, and some Fremont native ruins were on the way.

Hickman Bridge was pretty big, with the trail going under it and looping back another way. Beautiful scenes along the path, and a view of Capitol Dome; namesake for the National Park.

Fremont River

It was getting hot, so I was glad to see the Fremont River at the trailhead. The Bridge trail was a fairly easy hike located within the Waterpocket Fold. My nearby boondock camp had a good view of the Fold, too.

I did that trail in 2005 in December and loved it. Yep it was COLD. But no rattlesnakes.

My hike was in June, and it was hot. But still, no rattlesnakes that I noticed. They were probably hiding from me.

I’ve been past that area several times but always had a dog and didn’t do a lot of strenuous walking or hiking with her. It’s a beautiful place and your photos are so good.
