Mountain Views

(New Mexico)
There are views of mountains almost everywhere I go in New Mexico. It’s one of the things that I like about the state known as the Land of Enchantment. Thought I’d share some mountain scenes; hope you enjoy these few examples.

Mountain Views – Organ Mountains

This view of the Organ Mountains was seen when I visited Dripping Springs located at their base. These peaks rise to almost 9,000ft just east of Las Cruces. They are impressive from both the east and the west slopes.

Sawtooth Mountains
San Mateo Mountains

The Sawtooth Mountains showed themselves between the trees from my boondock camp in the Cibola National Forest. When driving over the Continental Divide, on my way to hike into the Bisti Wilderness, I saw the snow capped San Mateo Mountains to the east.

Mogollón Mountains from the Gila Wilderness
Cimarron Range

Even when high up in the mountains I could look out and see more around the area. While exploring in the Gila Wilderness at about 5,600ft the Mogollón Mountains loomed on the horizon in the distance. And, from 7,575ft the Cimarron Range rose above a pool along the Cimarron River near my camp.

Sacramento Mountains
Taos Mountains from Río Grande

Oliver Lee Memorial State Park sits at the mouth of Dog Canyon which goes up into the Sacramento Mountains; it’s quite a sight. As seen from the Río Grande Gorge, the Taos Mountains stood out from the landscape.

Fra Cristobal Range
Florida Mountains

A full moon rising over the Fra Cristobal Range was seen from my boondock camp. And, from my camp in Rockhound State Park, the Florida Mountains stood majestically as the sun was setting. What a beautiful way to end a day!
