On my daily walk, a path by the Río Grande beckoned me to stroll. It went through the woods parallel with the river. The trees, and the nearness to the water cooled me on a hot summer day.
Tall cottonwood trees provided ample shade. Thick grass cushioned my feet. Birds serenaded me as I went. Here and there were views of the river which was flowing swiftly.
Near the end of the trail were a few tent camping spots by the river. A picnic table, fire pit, and a flat grassy area to pitch a tent amongst the trees made each site a nice choice.
This state park is rather small compared to others. But, it has three trails with different ambiance that follow the river, with lots of shade trees, and each make for enjoyable walks.
