Tuzigoot

(nr Cottonwood AZ)
Tuzigoot National Monument features pueblo ruins of the Southern Sinagua natives. Actually, reconstructed as supposed from excavated finds. Built with stone construction, it had 87 rooms in two stories.

Tuzigoot Pueblo Ruins

Believed to have been inhabited between 1200 and 1400. It sets on a ridge overlooking a valley where fields for crops would have been likely, and near the Verde River for water, fish and game.

They created baskets, pottery, jewelry, tools, garments, and other items for daily use and trade. Mined salt near Camp Verde was a popular commodity. Goods were traded with nearby groups, and even with distant Mexico.

A small museum contained artifacts found on site, and items from neighboring pueblos or obtained in trade. It’s was a pretty interesting place to visit.
