Slate Gorge

(nr Kamas UT)
Heading up the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway, one of the stops was at the Slate Gorge overlook. It was from a high spot looking down onto the Provo River. And, wow what a view!

Slate Gorge

The river could be seen cascading down out of the mountains, and curving around as it descended. Surrounded by tall pines, it was a splendid sight.

And then, a swift drop into a roaring waterfall of considerable size. Crashing and thrashing around; it was an exciting spectacle.

So glad I stopped to check it out. There was only a small pullout, and likely not considered a major viewpoint.

Beautiful area. It’s cooler and wetter than last year at this time.
