(Maggie Valley to Cherokee NC)
In my continuing quest to find some fall colors, I decided to drive a portion of the Blue Ridge Parkway. With elevations over 5,000ft, I though it would provide a better chance.
There were lots of pull-outs, and nice views; but, little in the way of fall colors. Some wildflowers and sumac bushes did provide a glimpse of what was to come.
While up there, I spoke with a professional photographer who was on the same quest. He said the colors were a bit late this year. Then he suggested some places nearby, and shared a few of his favorite spots to shoot.
After driving that segment, I stopped in Cherokee for lunch. It was very crowded, and way too touristy for my tastes. So, I headed to my next camp in the mountains.
Camp: Deep Creek CG-NPS drycamp
Scene: Mountain overlooks
Note: This visit occurred in October.
