(Grand Rivers KY to Dover TN)
While driving through Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area I stopped to see some things between camps.
The Woodlands Nature Station was a combination garden and zoo. Native plants and wildlife were on display; they had a coyote, deer, and several birds. Around it were trails into the woods.
Down the road was Energy Lake; a reservoir that fed into Lake Barkley. And, at the main Visitor Center and Planetarium, I found Golden Pond. Not the one from the book; but rather, from the name of the town that used to be at that location.
On the way to my next camp, there was a pull-off by the road for an Iron Furnace which operated for a short time in the 1800s. Also, there was a viewing place for the bison range. However, they must have been on the far end as none were seen near the roadway.
I had a nice, quiet campsite by the water in a loop all by myself.

It sounds like you couldn’t have found a nicer campsite – quiet and in a loop all by yourself. It’d probably be a different story during the summer.
You got that right! Don’t think I’d want to be there in the middle of summer anyway.
