(Window Rock AZ/NN)
The capital for the Navajo Nation is the town of Window Rock. Their government buildings, courthouse, and a museum are located there. They also had a zoo and botanical gardens featuring common animals and plants in the region.
My main interest was to see the window in the rock, and the Navajo Veterans monument park. I also went through the museum which had exhibits about Navajo history and culture.
It was a short stop on my way across northeastern Arizona; which is mostly Navajo Nation lands. They have the largest reservation and population of any native tribe.

I have always enjoyed traveling through that area. Don’t remember a museum though – was it created in the last few years?
Not sure how long the museum has been around. It seems kind of new; but, also like it’s been there awhile.
