Another visit to City of Rocks State Park again; a unique park with piles of amazing rocks. Their varied shapes, sizes, and textures are a never ending pleasure for me.
I’ve hiked throughout the rocks, the trail out into the surrounding desert, and the one up a nearby hill that has more of the huge rocks.
Meandering through the rock formations always provides new views with every turn. There seems to be endless variety in the rocks depending on time of day and weather conditions.
The campsite was right up against the rocks, making easy access to them. It also, provided shade from the hot sun.

This is one of my favorite places. We’ve been there a couple of times, but only for a day or two, with no time for hiking about. Your photos are very enticing!

Thanks Judie. My visits there tend to be short too. Appreciate your photo comment.
Cool pics! It’s amazing to me to see the various formations. I wonder the story if they were worn down by desert winds, etc. Each is so unique!
The Visitor Center at the park explains the formations and how they came to stand on their own. Volcanic action, rain, wind, freezing, etc. are some of the causes. Regardless, they are amazing.
