While house sitting for a friend, I walked around the neighborhood where almost every yard had interesting decorations. They mostly had a nice balance of vegetation and ornaments.
In the southwest, stone and sand replace grass for the lawn. The scarcity of water makes this a good option. The plants used generally need little moisture and are watered with drip irrigation.
Hardscape like rocks, structures, and fountains add contrast. Plus, the yard ornaments provide color and interest. Some use lighting that provides charming accents at night.
Everyone in this community tries to make their yard attractive. Together it provides a pleasant environment.

Ha! Everyone tries to make it look interesting except me! I just try to keep mine from looking like a total disaster!! 😜
By personalizing your Site shows you take pride in it. Decorating for a Desert-scape is far different then we had in Ontario where the grass never stops growing.
Be Safe and Enjoy!
It’s about time.
Thanks Richard. I appreciate you noticing.
