(nr Clifton AZ)
Built in 1918 to span the Gila River, on what was the main road between the towns of Clifton and Safford, the Old Safford Bridge is still in use today along the gravel Black Hills Back Country Byway used to access the Gila Box Riperian National Conservation Area run by the BLM.
My camp was adjacent to the river and bridge. The bridge was refurbished in the 1990s and still looks in good shape. Popular activities in the area include rafting on the river, picnicking, camping, and mountain bicycling.
The temperatures were a bit warmer than I anticipated. So, I only stayed for a couple of days as I was eager to move along on my journey.

Nice looking area and I had never heard of it. Thanks for the update.
It’s near the eastern edge of Arizona. Scenery is nice by the river, and mostly desert hills otherwise.
