Burr Trail Scenic Backway traveled eastward from the edge of town through some marvelous scenery. First passing by some gigantic oyster shell formations, and then descending into Steep Creek Gulch.
Coming out of the gulch shortly afterward, the road entered Long Canyon with its rugged, towering, red rock cliffs. I was so impressed by the sights in the canyon that I made a separate post about it.
The road then leaves the canyon and a vista opens wide overlooking White Canyon Flat. If one continued on the trail, it ends up at the Waterpocket Fold in the southern part of Capitol Reef NP.
I stopped at the overlook when exiting the canyon, and made my boondock camp just afterward. Parked on a ridge below Rattlesnake Bench, and looking into The Flats made for fabulous views.

I loved that area. Thank you for the nice pictures and commentary.
Glad to provide memories. It was a fantastic drive.
