Long Canyon was just a portion of the Burr Trail Scenic Backway; but, wow! Entering the canyon gave only a glimpse of what was to follow. In hindsight, it was just a teaser for the upcoming views.
Towering red rock cliffs reaching toward the sky, cliffs with pocket holes, and crevices or slots running between them.
Rugged, pointed pinnacles, slab like rock faces, composite rock bubbles, and huge cliffs that dwarfed my rig Tardis.
Tall rock formations, steep sandy slopes at their base, and massive boulders scattered all around. Rocks of every shape and size. Yippee!
There were so many exciting views, and so few pullouts, that I had to stop in the middle of the road to take photos. Luckily, there was little traffic on that day. I am so glad I didn’t skip driving this road.
