Pioneer Charcoal Kilns
(Leamington UT) These two ovens operated from 1882 to 1895 producing charcoal. It was an important fuel then. Trees were harvested from nearby canyons, prepped and hauled in, and then stacked densely inside. A slow burn made for good charcoal.
