Just south of downtown, Riverside Drive turns to gravel and continues along the Río Grande for a ways. There are hills on both sides of the river, and dense vegetation by the water.

A friend and I followed the road until it veered away from the river. In some spots a clearing would allow access to the river. In the distance were the mountains with Turtle Peak.

After our leisurely walk, we had a picnic lunch at the small park by the river. We chatted for a while and caught up on our doings. Then we went into Tardis to watch a movie.
